A New Beginning

Two months ago, my sister embarked on her new journey in life. It was a joyous occasion although she kept it a simple affair. BUT she still managed to keep me busy, well I guess that's what sisters are for.

It didn't really help that she was very fickle and decided to have her ceremony the weekend I just came back from my trip, and I was still suffering from the usual post holiday blues, certainly don't make a good crafter.

She requested for DIY guest book and gift box but man, I didn't feel up to it. Plus, scrap table in a huge mess, things were not organzied.. don't make a happy crafter either.

But still, couldn't make it past my conscience mid-week so I thought something handmade is still in order, and off scurrying for materials we went.

Since she already bought a guest book and gift box, so I thought customized signing pens would be nice. Since my sis is all for the girly swirls and frills, it will be very her indeed.

Come friday, my dinning table was in huge a mess. (yup, at the dinning table still, it's kinda become a tradition I can't break. arrggh)

There goes, a pair for guests signing in their love and well wishes, and a pair for the actual signing ceremony for the couple.

I also made paper roses for the ceremony pens and they are ardoned with crystals and pearls.

Most likely these will be recycled at my own ceremony as well. What good mileage huh!

I wouldn't had been that busy if she didn't make me her photographer too, but o'well, I had lotsa fun!

LOs To Share (Overdue as always...)

I was counting the months since I last updated this much neglected blog of mine and realized 1 hand isn't enough to count. More than half a year I let it idle, I didn't realize it's been so long. Although this blog idles, but I haven't. Been so busy... but what's new?

Now I'm just so looking forward to everything settling down and me moving into a new scraproom. I can't wait to unpack all my stuffs and start creating a mess again. :)

I also can't wait to start playing with my new toy:

This is an all-in-one. But I'm more excited about being able to start printing my own pics in a more decent quality. Nothing out of the world, but good enough for me. :)

So anyway, I left my previous job earlier this year, and with it also came the farewell of some colleagues who I have come to love. We were always a naughty bunch and I miss all the laughter and chatter. But of course, Singapore is too small and we could still keep in touch regularly.

So, it was one chapter over and I thought instead of cards, I could do some simple layouts (8" X 8") and have my messages for them written on the back.

This picture was from a trip we took to Malacca together. As usual I have the eyelets, and tied a simple ribbon for hanging the LO as is.

Pardon the poor picture quality, I took it at night and the light in the room was arrghh.. horrible.

RAK - Just In Time For X'mas!

Time flew me by this year, we are already in the month of November! It feels like just yesterday we were having our reunion dinner celebrating CNY. Anyhow, I'm kind of looking forward and not looking forward to the new year at the same time. For one to look forward to, my course will be over soon, can't wait for my final exams to be over next January. But at the same time, I already know next year will be a very busy one, many things had been or will be set into motion and I'm kind of feeling overwhelmed already.

So, moving on to fun things, since I'm now back to scrapping and crafting, which I'm really glad I did, cause sometimes you just get too caught up in... things. I know I've been telling myself I'm too busy with work, gym and classes, but I guess if I do not get to it now, I may never will. So I'm determined not to let myself slide this time!

So erm, enough words and my ramblings, I'm here to post something I would like to send out to a random someone, just because...

and I'm also celebrating great people on a MB.

Blossoms "how-to" Guide

Incase anyone is interested, this is a follow-up of my previous post of the blossoms I made from my scraps. It's pretty simple as you'll find out, and is nothing compared to what some very talented scrappers are creating with their crafty hands I'm sure, but still, it's one good way not to let those scraps go to waste.. and an economical way of adding dimension to your projects too.

Oh and I haven't done this kind of step-by-step guide before so please excuse me cause I know this might not be very good. I took as many pictures as I could. Hope this helps.

First up, you'll need these:

1. Paper punchers in two different sizes (mine is from EK)
2. Matching papers/scraps
3. Pop-up foam/glue dots (always the pop-ier, the better for me)
4. Tweezer/clipper not in the picture (sorry, missed it out)

Well, you can now start punching away, punch out a big and a small one from each paper.

At this point, you decide how you would like to layer them. For the one you choose as the "core" of the flower, you curl the petals under. I uses my tweezer from MM. For the other, create more dimension too by curling the petals slightly inwards with your fingers.

When you are done, they should look like these.

Now all you need to do is layer them up using the pop-up foam/glue dots.

For the last layer, I choose to just glue it on without using the pop-up dots but it's up to you really. Lastly, just glue a button in the middle and you are good to go!

Hope this is useful for those who might want to try it out and have fun!

On a totally non-scrappy note, I watched Unstoppable today and it was great! But ahah I might be biased cause I love Denzel Washington! ;p

Drowning In My Mess!

Just 2 weeks back I tried to re-organize and tidy up my scrapbooking stuffs. Made some good progress I would say, at least I can find what I am looking for now. ;p

What's currently also in an unbelievable mess is my beading stuffs, all the accessories, hardwares, crystals are all over the place! So I thought it is high time I do something about it too and I got them out from storage.

Horror of horrors, one of the tray containing the beads was opened and the beads had all fallen out onto the base of the box. So imagine, all the different colors, all mixed together! I swear I sobbed when I saw that.

So yea, I spent hours last night hell bent over wearily sorting them out, one tiny by one tinny one. The thought of just chucking them out did cross my mind. But I thought it's a sin to waste.. Thankfully for my SO, he also buried his head with me sorting out another pile while breaking into songs with improvised lyrics of how his eyes were tearing. ahahaaha, that definitely earned him some brownie points. ;p

What you see here is the neat pile. I've hide away the mess for the night so I could sleep better. With luck, I might be able to sort them all out by this long weekend.

After that, I must start working on all my X'mas projects, gonna be SO busy!

There are some things a girl just cannot resist. For me, beside my love for M&S Four Chesse potato chips, I also have a certain weakness for Chanel. Yup, too bad money do not grow on trees...

Anyway, looking at my wishlist, I think I practically have to live on air for a very long time to come. So! it's time I dedicated a fund for this noble cause! ;p

Kinda silly isn't it? But I had fun and I am currently working on closing a deal with my very unwilling donor. *winks*

Altered Jar Makes Cookies More Yummy!

So as I was saying, I have been craving to craft recently (after such a long hiatus) and I am bent on keeping myself very busy. I just hope I am able to keep up with myself because there are a ton of things I want/need to do but only so much time in a day.

Anyway, for awhile now, my SO's work had been incredibly busy and seems like "skipping-lunch" is now integrated into his job scope.

While I was re-stocking his stash of cookies and biscuits for the office, I thought it was perfect to alter a jar to go with the them. So I jumped at this excuse for me to create something. :)

I got to work immediately and it was quite a breeze, I had a lot of fun and I love how it had turned out! Almost wanted to keep it for myself. :p

I know it's all pink and girly, but he said he don't mind it and likes it very much too (really!). :p

Now the jar is sitting in his office serving its mighty purpose!

Back In Business!

Woah, it's been 39283749 years. Haven't had time to scrap for the longest time, and last week, I had this crazy urge to bury my head into crafts! About time too I know.

But my scrappy workstation had been in a very disorganized and messy state since I don't know when. So even if I had ideas flowing through for some new projects, there's nothing much I can do until I clean up my stuffs. Plus, there are many photos that I need to print, and more supplies to buy. (boy, they are never enough)

Anyway, I've managed to clear up quite alot, although I haven't had time to shop and all, but I thought I could start off with something simple. So, I dived right into my pile of scraps and made some paper blossoms.

Next week, I intend to finish up my "almost done" project, it's been "almost done" since last year. Amazing is it not, my powers of procrastination. ;p

So I should say this week had been a productive week with something to show for. Till the next..

SO Overdue, I Know.

Yesterday during our break, one of my classmates asked me about my scrapping. I was wondering how she got to know about it since only a handful know that I do crafts, and she told me that my blog link is on my FB. I had absolutely no recollection of putting it there. Memory is starting to fail me, I guess work and school is taking up to much of my memory space.

Anyhow, I disgress.

So as she was asking my about my scrapping, it suddenly struck me that I really havent sat down at my scrap table for a long long time! Then I was blanketed by an overwhelming sense of guilt. So after my class I was determined to go back and get something done. But alas! Barely 30 mins into it and I had depleted my creativity bank of all creative juices, either that or they had fled me. So go figure..

But I thought I should post the 2 projects I completed long ago last year solely for the sake of having some pics up here. I did not post these till now because I have them at my workplace and I did not take any pics before.

So pardon the crappy pics, I took these with my iPhone.

I thought those generic pen holders are just so plain and boring so I altered one for myself.

As the title suggests, this silly boy has the ability to brighten any crappy workdays for me. I just need to think of all his silly antics.

Uploading and posting seems harder than conquering Mt Everest at the moment..

Below is a layout I completed last year and did not take any pictures until today. Am I really that busy? Err..

Anyway, I love it! The title is too apt for this one, I mean if my dog can read, he will be nodding crazily in agreement too. His whole universe revolves around COOKIES. I mean it literally.

There are two more projects (completed before this layout!) I've been meaning to upload as well, but yah, you get my drift, pictures! pictures! got to find time for snapping..

One picture only is kinda pathetic, but that's all I have for now.. till next time.

A Looonngg Hiatus

I never imagined how busy my new work would be, and together with school, I am unbelivably drained most of the time. These days, when I walk passed my scrap table, all I do is shake my head and sigh.

I also thought of closing this blog since it has been so very inactive, but I guess it could still be an outlet for me to relieve my stress and indulge in my own scrapbooking creations, although it's been awhile since I had time to scrap.

So it wouldn't come as a surprise that this will be a photo-less post. Actually, I had months ago completed two projects. But I hadn't had time to take pictures and install my camera's software into my netbook. I hope I will be able to do all that by next week.

Anyhow, X'mas is near! Which means I will have to by hook or by crook get down to doing some scrapping. But I can tell you, the temptations of just giving gifts bought off shelves had been very great. I shall resist it though..

That said, I really admire those who can continuously produce/complete projects while holding down a full time job. Man, I wish I have this superwoman ability.

Now I hope the next post will be more interesting.

Time do fly. I cannot believe it's been a week since the last time I posted. I haven't been lazing around though, I managed to finish another small project of mine but couldn't find the time to take pictures. The past week was Harry Potter and many birthday dinners, I bet I've piled on quite a few pounds. Speaking of which, I haven't been jogging as often as I'd like, feeling fat and very unhealthy I am. Let's hope I'll be able to pack in some exercising this week. *fingers crossed*

Back to scrapping. It is my bad habit to scatter my mails around after I opened them and quite often, I end up misplacing them. Too bad losing the bills doesn't mean I won't have to pay them.. So, I thought I need something to keep my mails in, and about time too.

This is really useful for me! No more mess, and no more searching for mails I misplaced. =)

Custom-made for myself!

Hi there, I have something interesting to share! As my title suggests, I made something for myself that's tailored to my needs. Care to make a guess? I will admit it is something I need VERY much, since I have this tendancy to misplace my discipline and self-control. No clue yet? I might even venture to say that there might be others out there who are like me, and thus have a use for this new creation of mine too. :)

Yes, these evil cards of mine are being grounded and kept in deep freeze. =p

If you ask me, this is a perfect way for me to stop myself from overspending, that is, going out without these plastiques! No matter how hard or often I tell myself that I must not fall to temptations, more often than not, the convenience of just whipping out these tiny plastiques and you can have whatever it was you fancied going home with you, is just too hard to resist.

Not to mention, experts have said, the lure of these cards is you are buying with toy money, as opposed to paying with cash for your purchases. At the end of the day, only when the bills come, do you have to part with your real money, and that's the time when you feel the pinch and remorse, but it would have been too late isn't it?

I know I can be thinking about how I want to reduce spending for the month and only buying my needs and not my wants blah blah blah from the time I open my eyes in the morning, but all it takes is an unintentional glance through the window of a boutique, where my sight befalls on something that tickles my fancy, and then all thoughts of frugality will become history. Tragic.

Now, if you are like me, then maybe you can make something similar for yourself too. =)

The process of saving and cutting down on expenses can be quite depressing at times, especially if you are already so used to your current lifestyle. But at a time like now where the economy is not exactly a bed of roses, I know I must be more prudent in saving.

So, I've made myself something fun and pretty to aid me in this process. Hell, it isn't all that hard to leave my cards behind now if you ask me. =)

As promised...

I am glad that I was able to complete more in the last two days. It feels good when you know you haven't let time pass in vain.

I managed to finish one of my long due projects finally.. it's a start I'd say. This special event took place in March this year and it definitely falls into my "scrap-it-by-hook-or-by-crook" category, and you'll see why. ;)

The proposal! See why this is a "must-scrap" for me? Now how many proposals do a girl get in a lifetime? The pictures were taken after we got home, the journaling accounts for the details, like where it took place etc. I also saved some flowers from the bouquet, dried them and I thought it lends a nice touch and made this page even more meaningful.

Man, I love this! The only flaw is the "I Said Yes"at the bottom I guess, I'd like it better if it has more contrast with the purple. What do you think?

Besides this, I also created a set of 3 mini cards. They are titled: "Smile, Giggle, Laugh" I thought they make a good set.

I realised one problem I always encounted with my camera is that the pictures do not turn out true to their colors IRL. I've tried adjusting the shutter-speed, aperture, ISO and white balance etc, but still I just couldn't get it right, it's frustrating! Any photography experts out there who can lend me some advice? Lord knows I really need it.

I know I've been bad...

Given that I have so much time on my hands now, one would expect that I'd be more diligent at my scrap table. But erm, I must say that had not been the case. Gosh I feel so bad, getting distracted by all the other stuffs, and giving in to the temptation of going out instead of staying home like I should have and do things constructive.

Anyway, I've finally gotten back to scrapping. Thanks to this photo of my grandma, I woke up one fine day, my eyes darted to the picture like so many times before, and I felt this sudden urge to do something about it. Guess she's trying to tell me I am too lazy lately. There are also many projects overdue, I shall work hard to clear my backlog.

I am going to leave you with a 12X12 layout I just completed and get back to bury myself in scraps. I love this new layout and I hope you'll like it too. =)

It's such a pity that there aren't many solo pictures of her. The next thing I need to do is to duplicate some old photos from the precious few since I do not want to use the originals.

Oh my gosh! I've been gone, away from the scene for too long. My... one would think that since now that I have all the time in the world, I will be logging on more often. Well well.. firstly, my sis brings the laptop with her so I do not have access all the time. Secondly, uploading pictures alone like simply just take up half the day, and I have so many pics! Erm... but those of scrapping not that many maybe? Sigh, all these excuses.

Anyway, this one I'm putting up now is from a few weeks back. It was a gift for one of my very kind ex colleagues. She bought me some cakes on my last day of work and I really thought that was a very kind gesture and I ought to thank her in my way. So I altered a crate for her.

I hope she likes it as much as I do, and it's in her preferred colours, pink and blue. And ofcoz, with my crate, you can be sure it will never be complete without the signature ribbons. Here they are...

Well, that's all again for now. I've just got myself a netbook to grant myself more access to the internet, so hopefully I will be able to update more. Tata!

Get Cracking!

I have been slacking too much. Mainly alot of Mahjong recently, and too little time scrapping! So I thought I'd try to compensate yesterday and I came up with 2 mini notebooks. Not too bad for one night considering I played mahjong again after that!

For today I have to cram in some time for my revision. Having my exam this Thursday, dreading it gosh. So, before I disappear into the wind again for the rest of the week, I shall leave you with these two latest creations I did yesterday.

Alright, from my previous post I'm sure one can gather that I am SUPER overdue with my gift for the sweet Tessa. And I am so sorry about it yea.. But my schedule hasn't been too accommodating for my scrapping. Seems like so many things are happening at the same time for me.

Work is CRAZY, but work no more. I feel happy that I have put an end to it. But enough, this blog is certainly not for my rantings and unhappy experiences at work, it should be of pretty, happy and handcrafted items! :D

So, I've been meaning to complete my gift for Tessa for a long long time and I'm glad that I finally am able to sit down at my scrap table and produce constructively. :)

Hi people, Happy Chinese New Year! Welcome the year of OX!

Gosh can't believe it's been almost a month since my last post. I've been real bad. Some work problems, and also after my classes every week, I don't get home till after 10pm. :( and my weekends are now spent vegetating instead of creating. How tragic I know. Ohhh creative juices, flow back to me please...

I must try harder. There are so many things I want to blog about too, but I haven't found time to take pictures or upload them.

I received the lovliest gift from Tessah and it's beautiful! I will take a picture soon. And I haven't finish my gift for her. Ohh I feel so bad girl. But better late than never, I promise I will get working again.

Just A Simple Bookmark..

Well, I thought since I am going back to school, I made a bookmark for myself to commemorate this occasion, to let me look forward to school you know.

Ahah okie, actually I wanted to maybe made a few more other stuffs before posting, but my dear had just got me a DSLR (say hello to better quality pictures) so I just can't stop fiddling with it now and hence, this post.. =p

Time really zoomed us by without us even realising it. I mean, it's year 2009 already. I hope year 2008 was a great one for everyone, albeit with the economic downturn during the later part, I am sure everyone is affected. But I do hope you managed to find your light at the end of the tunnel. :)

I did a simple one to kick start my New Year and I am hoping it will be a good one no matter what is installed for us ahead. I hope you can do the same too.

Good or bad, I have a ton to look forward to. For one, I am returning to school next week. Wish me luck.

In a "Flowery" mood?

I just fed steamed vegetables mixed with dog food to my dog. Gave him food in a different bowl and I guess he thought that the different bowl might have teeth and bite him, and he daren't walk near it, thus I had to feed him. He's one spolit timid dog.

Anyway, I was feeling the mood today and it's flowers. Loveliest things whoever up there created. So, sometime back I bought this mini metal pail from Daiso, it's really cute and it's perfect for what I had in mind. :)

I decorated the mini pail a little and it's good to go! I used roses, golden phoenix and the other one I don't know the name of but it's really cute and perfect with the rest.

And a closer look at the little alteration I did with the mini pail. In case you are wondering, this whole thing is about 9 inches tall plus flowers. I thoroughly had fun and I'm looking forward to Wednesday. :D

"C" for Caragh!

It's Monday again.. feeling the blues aren't you? Fret not, Christmas is just around the corner. So what did I do over the weekend? Some retail therapy on Friday after my hair appointment and throughly enjoyed myself. Albeit a little guilty now. Things I bought were totally non-scrap related, so nothing to show. And I downed 5 donuts from JCo all by myself yesterday. I really should be hanged. Sigh..

Alright, I disgress. Actually I logged on to show something I completed yesterday. Lazy no more.. yah you heard me. I looked through my "Alterable-drawer" yesterday and found a Wooden Monogram "C" I bought awhile ago and decided to get to work.

Pardon the green thingy you are seeing in the picture alright, I tucked it there so my monogram won't slide. I need to go get a proper stand I guess, and a close up picture.

I know I've neglected this blog for the past week, been busy with this and that you know. Anyhow, it's time to show my Christmas projects. I really enjoyed making all these and there's a great amount of goodwill in almost half of these. Ahem, hahaahahah, sorry, I am indulging in a private joke.

Lazy bad girl...

I've been so lazy over the weekend. Haven't do much of any scrapping at all, and the baddest of all, I did not practice either. So I have to postpone today's lesson.. feeling so guilty now.

A "hi!" at mid week!

Finished a new card yesterday. Usually I am not able to scrap as much as I would like during weekdays. So, a simple card it is. I also had a go at the Christmas projects that is very much on my "to-do" list.

My sister came yesterday and when she saw the card, she commented that I've been doing a lot of pink lately. Well guess I wanted to finish up all the half used papers that I've accumulated.

Hard Times

With the current economic downturn, many companies are facing retrenchment. My company is not spared either. Although I am thankful that I am not affected by this crisis, but it is inevtitable that we had to see a few of our colleagues off.

Last week, my boss told me to prepare another letter. I really feel kinda sad that this guy has to go. He's a very quiet and polite person, always willing to offer his help. Everytime I need someone to pack food back for me, he's the one I call. So, to express my gratitude for him, although we haven't been working together for very long since he only joined in July, I decided to make him a little something.

This little container is filled with mini Toblerones. I sure hope chocolate and blue is his thing.

And ofcoz, as my tag says, I wish him all the best in his future endeavours.

Altered Project

I altered something again. It was fun! I made these mainly with the scraps I have from previous projects. Can you guess what was it I altered?

Guessed it?? From the shape of things I would say it's a fairly simple guess yah? And for those with no clue still, I altered pencils. And after that I also made a pocket to hold them and there goes, it's ready for gifting.

Well, the problem of this is that they are not really meant for heavy usage. As you can see, there's not much allowance left for sharpening. So, it's just something pretty that I like sitting around. Hee. Let's take a closer look at the pocket and the pencils.

I am thinking it might be better if I had the same design for all 3 pencils. What do you think? Also, I think it would be great if I can let the pencils go a longer way by having more exposed area for sharpening. By the way, please pardon my crappy pictures.

My Altered Crate!

I have a new project to share. Right after I posted the photo-card, I was packing up my stuffs and came across this paper which I thought should look good with some flowers and lace. So I got to work immediately.

I love how it turned out.. It's so soft and romantic isn't it? I also added a mini tag shown on the right. So you can put your initial on it to personalize it. Like, I would love to immediately put a "C" on. But I think this should be going on Etsy, afterall, I don't have any girly frilly stuffs to put in it anyway. It just feels so wrong if I were to use it for my loose change. =p

I just love it when my ideas flow through so well. It was a breeze with this altered crate and I felt so productive. Weekend is almost over.. I'm off to practice.

An Overcast Saturday

So, my playmate is busy working, has been for the past few weeks. I need to go to town for the supplies I need for the upcoming Christmas project, but maybe next week. Not really in the mood for anything now. I looked through the stash of photos I have on hand to scrap. And I chose another green.

Completed this mini photo-card(photo within a card, I don't know how else to call it?) today. Well, actually the reason why I didn't just scrap a layout for the photo is because I had this green cardstock lying around for quite some time now. This cardstock was meant to be made into a gift pouch for my Etsy, but I made a mistake when cutting it. Thus it's been on my scrap-table forever. Saw the perfect photo to match with it, and VIOLA! It's just big enough to fit the picture too.

M provided me with the title "Dreamer", he was playing coy and meant"dreaming of you". But I thought how apt! Beacause he sleeps so much..

And the other Dreamer(my greedy dog) is now beside me, far away in dreamland chasing his cookies. Ok, off I go to something else. Ta!

Welcome Me, Blogspot!

I have finally set up this blog, a place to let me indulge in my hobby of crafts. So ofcoz, the first thing to do is to create a banner for my new blog. Since this is about the girly side of me, and probably the only girly side I possesses, I thought I should overcompensate and make it even more girly by using PINK! Yes, the road to pinkify myself is long and winding, but I shall press on..

Anyhow, I am happy I can strike this off my to-do-list now and shall come back with more photos of my projects when they are completed to share with whoever is looking.
